Reflections

The examination has concluded
There truly is a whole world out there 
But my analysis was lacking until this point
There was a way to live 
I was going about it evenly, every day
Stricken by the mundanities therein 
So caught up in that small portion of the whole
Of my surrounding
While ignoring the grander world
That was always right in front of me

I had shut myself away from love
In hopes that I would sacrifice the feeling
For achievements, successes
Un-promised fame
In truth 
I never understood love at all
And I avoided the unknown
Out of fear, not practicality
All this time spent alone
Was of my own design
Unbeknownst to me, while chasing the stars
I squandered the sun, time and time again
 
I learned something about this life 
I finally learned that tomorrow is, indeed
Not promised
And every moment spent without love
Without the drive for what makes us happy
Love of life, love of mission, love of another 
It is all nothing without this love
It must be fostered everyday
In everything that we do
It should be explored 
It should be cared for
It should be nourished 
It should be striven for above all else
Every day
Every day should be made for love
All of it

Tomorrow is never promised
Let's then spend today 
In love.
